Colon Cleansing - Just a Marketing Hoax?

There is a lot of speculation going around as to the authenticity of colon cleanse kits. The buzz is all over the fact that this could all just be a marketing ploy and the 'positive' results that have been reported are nothing more than the intended action of the drugs on the body and are not really cleaning out the bowels. Is this true? If so, then have we just been wasting money (the colon cleanse kits are not that cheap) or are we on the right track? This article will try to debunk claims and hoaxes and frauds and also create an unbiased look into the issue.

A Marketing Ploy

A lot of people have been saying that this is all just a marketing ploy and that the effects are premeditated effects of the drugs. What they are implying is that the images of the patient results are only a natural reaction of the body to the drugs that it had digested and that it doesn't really clean out the bowel. What it does it to make the stool more mucoid and fool the user into thinking that the treatment is working and that manufacturers are just riding on this market trend to make money.

Well, this claim does have some basis, but it is not as negative as it sounds. The long segments of 'bowel rocks' that is passed by most patients is indeed a premeditated result of the drugs. But, instead of having no function whatsoever as the complaints claim - they really do have positive effects. These long links act as internal brooms that sweep the walls of you bowel as they move along down the intestinal tract. Their composition allows them to scrape away the compacted mucous in the lining of your bowel - that is the reason why they are very oily and are covered in mucous when you pass them.

Nothing There in the First Place

This idea claims that there is nothing to clean in the first place and that our body works efficiently enough to make sure that everything is taken out. Critics also claim that there are no such thing as 'mucous plaques' and that it is just a myth propagated to increase sales of the product.

Now, this claim is unfounded in science. There is something to clean there - unless you have been living in a sterile bubble, eating a completely organic balanced diet that is high in fiber and have never been constipated in your entire life. Chances are the answer is a big NO. It is important to understand that your lifestyle (no matter how healthy) would in one way or another cause you bowel problems - to illustrate the point: Be informed that even second hand smoke can cause gastrointestinal problems in some people. And it is these GI problems that result in unwanted build up in the walls of your intestine. These build up, often referred to as plaque, can harbor harmful bacteria and toxins that can get into your bloodstream and cause you harm.

The decision is now up to you. After all, no one is forcing you to have the procedure done. Take your time to sort through other claims and you can see for yourself if they are founded in fact or not.
